I'm back.......

Hello all.

First sorry there has been so little going on here for the last couple of months but hey, life sometimes gets in the way.

Soooo... whats on for today, well I managed to get up to the club for a spot of shooting on Wednesday and wow what a day, after so much gloomy weather a nice sunny day with a gentle breeze was fab!
My shooting has deteriorated since I last shot and I was not back up to scratch on last year then, so I now have a lot of work to do if I am going to keep my new years resolution and improve my shooting with a view to getting my first class.

  1. Hey!

Just to let you know that your blog IS read.

I'm looking forward to getting a Spiga Revo too. I've seen a lot of comments, I spoke to a feww people shooting one.
All I could find was a very few problems with the very first series of this riser. But those keep spreading around the web and therefor make a bad impression.

Although - now that I'm commenting: I had spoken to one big guy who told me that it could be a problem to shoot with this riser when you're big.
Now I'm using 31" arrows. Could that really be a problem? The Spiga arrow rest is set back I thought, so I would not expect any problems there.

Have fun - and yes, I would be delighted to read more.

    regards
    Torsten from Germany

    1. Thanks for the post Toeste,
I have not heard of size being an issue with the revolution, I use 29.5" shafts and don't have any problems.

  2. I can second that, although not being a computer wiz, I have found it all but impossible to contribute...so here's trying yet again!
I too, have been very interested in the S. Revolution as an upgrade with SF Carbon/Wood limbs, from my SF Premium with KAP Winstorm (glass/wood) limbs, as advised by my local "shop".

There has been much inconsistent correspondence on the web on this bow, and whilst, yes it IS different (I like Italian motorbikes too) and good looking, there is no point my shelling out for something that doesn't perform irrespective of how lovely it is!! I have shot a few arrows on the range with it, and it did indeed feel smooth and quiet, with a lovely comfortable handle; but then I've no experience to make comparisons with anything really, except my current set up. We will see in due course!! Torsten's comments on size are interesting...I am 6' 4" will shoot with a 70" bow, 32" arrows (Easton jazz), pulling 36 or 8 lbs at 28" (about 42lbs?) Cartel long rod (no side stabilisers), Diecut site. I have just gone back to shooting without a clicker...

  3. Hi Laurie, I have been very lax lately and I think it is because i have had very little time to shoot but i am going to try to keep the blog a bit more active sorry. I will be interested to hear how you get on with your revolution. I am currently back to a pair of 26 lb winstorm wood/carbon limbs as I shot so little last year I am having problems shooting more than a couple of dozen with my 36 lb Kaya Tomcats. The thing is what with the light limbs the bow feels even nicer !

    1. Hi...This works, then!! It's the first time I have contributed on a blog, and had all but given up looking! Good stuff.....
The limbs I have ordered and paid for, as I could use those on my existing riser, although there may be some concerns over weight...? They will take a couple of weeks to come in; then I will try then on the Spig., properly. In truth I have all but committed myself to buying it, though. Today I was at the range and did try the riser again on my set, but I guess the nocking point was out, as one aarrow was dreadful...enough for me to stop. Patience is a virtue........so using the set up may yet take a couple of weeks. No, several....

    2. Hi,

Thank you for putting this blog together. As I have said, this is the first time I've used a blog like this: I normally steer well clear of any "social networking" type stuff, although I did once years ago set up an owners assoc. website for a particular yacht design......oh dear. So anyway, forgive me if I post in the wrong place or whatever!
To bow matters: I started shooting at the ripe old age of 56 going on 12, last autumn. My partner too has now also taken up the sport. Hmmmm, is it a sport?
I have never shot in competition, and I'm afraid I don't understand or know anything about these grades or classifications? I try and shoot once or twice a week, mainly, as it were, against myself, but this limits me to 20 and 25 yards indoors, mostly.(I would love to go try a field shoot sometime..) I work shifts, so shooting regularly is a problem.
Although I am a big healthy chap, I do find a Portsmouth(60 arrows?...if I'm right, I'm getting very "in"!!) quite tiring with my set up, and I think you could be onto something with the lighter limbs. I now have a really painful "archers elbow" on my draw arm!
Yesterday at the range (Perris Archery...is that allowed?) there were several people who seemed to know what they were on about, shooting very well without clickers, reminding me that clickers were originally just a training aid......I hate it; but that's not to say I won't try again!
I tried the Spig. again yesterday, but with my limbs and string. One arrow later, it was horrible: something was very wrong, so I shot no more with it and reverted to my own kit in entirety. The shop was too busy to discuss it there and then so I left til I next go up there....
      The current rig:
SF Premium riser 25" (no button)
      Diecut sight
      Cartel Long rod with damper
Fastflight ? string (23cm brace height)
KAP Winstorm limbs (34lbs@28". 40lbs at my draw)Long.
      Easton Jazz arrows....31"
      Beiter Clicker ...sometimes

      To come:
      Spigarelli Revolution (25")
SF Carbon Wood limbs at 38lbs (theory being, bow is "softer" to shoot...)
Beiter? button ( a button is essential on this bow)
      Spigarelli's own rest.

All else the same, but it'll be a month or so before I get it all together/set up to use.

There must be someone else out there with this bow? Any views on the stabiliser rod pointing slightly downwards?
Finally, love your pictures...any of the bow being drawn/shot?

    3. Laurie,

Sounds interesting, although I would have stuck with your current limbs to start with as when you change everything I can be hard to workout what is good and what is bad. Also it might not sound much but you will really feel those extra four pounds. If you have not already I would start doing some training at home, just get some stretch bands and use them to 'draw' just as if you are shooting, even up to rolling back the shoulder for the release but don't let go. I have an old grip that I have put two bands and a 2 kg dumbbell into and taped up (I'll have to post a picture), with this I can use the med band to work on form the heavy to build stamina for long shoots and both to increase strength (well that's the theory) add in the 4 kg weight and that helps building the bow arm to hold the bow out for long shoots.

When you tried the Revolution what brace height did you use, I find that mine is quietest at about 8.5-9" quite high and people tell me it is too high, but that is where I get my best results so there!

As for the long rod, I love shooting without one as the bow is just so well balanced, but once you get out past 40 yards it does make a big difference. There are two mounts for the long rod and I think it is just see what works best for you, at longer ranges the slight downwards angle means the long rod is not pointing at the sky.

I will try and get some pictures of the bow being shot for my next update.

    4. Hi, the dreaded lurgy has prevented my shooting for a while...I didn't even get to the club last night.
I would love to see your training set up! I do exercise regularly, shifts permitting, with competitive swimming (for ol' gits!) and have a personal trainer in the gym, as I HATE the gym, but I do think you may have a thing about staying with the lighter limbs......
On the SF riser I have a brace height of 23 cms...ish

I shall look forward to seeing some piccies of both your training rig and perhaps the bow being shot?
As soon as the new bow is set up, I'll let you know how I get on.
How are you getting on with your clicker? I guess I'm going to have to go back to trying it and to hell with the scores for a while!!

    5. Sorry to hear that you have been unwell, last year i just had one thing after another and that really hurt my form, I only managed to shoot about a dozen times the whole year.
At the moment I only use the clicker for setting my draw length by using it to do reversals, just drawing up and rolling my shoulder back and getting it to click without releasing, I do about six before I start to shoot and find this really helps to make reinforce my anchor point and a conststant draw length.

  4. Greetings Revolutionaries :-)
I have just found your Blog Spot and have joined. I have just ordered my Left Handed Revolution Riser. Looking forward to it immensely, after ages of searching for something different (seemed like ages) I settled on the Revolution.

Ordered the riser from Perris Archery, they seem knowledgable and very helpful. I should have it within the next few weeks. I will report back.

I had a look at the " manual" I will try and rewrite so that it makes more sense the set up looks fairly straightforward. Very adjustable riser and very interesting way to construct a riser on paper should give good results.

    Talk soon:-) Chris
