  1. I certainly enjoy your blog! - recently got back into archery and got a Rev as a second riser, my 'problem' is that I'm currently torn between barebow and freestyle, I'm using the Rev for barebow along with some old W&W XQ-1 limbs and it's really nice :)

  2. HI Coda

I have the same problem in that I am torn between bare bow and free style. In my case the problem is that I cannot shoot both style at the same time as my free style suffers when I am shooting bare bow (mainly my anchor starts to creep from under the chin to the side of my mouth). As I am currently captaion of our Summer leage team I have to concentrate on free style but as soon as I can dupe...err hmm I mean "Promote" another person to team captain I am going throw away my sight and go bare.........bow.

  3. Hi, I like and enjoy your blog. I have a Revolution is my first riser. I started two years ago, but wasn't very frequent to the shooting. Now, after one whole year away from the club, I started again last week. I will try to shoot three or four times a week, as I retired a month ago and now have enought time.

  6. Well, my left handed Italian coloured Revolution arrived today, direct from Spigarelli in Rome. Just gorgeous. It was supposed to be for my birthday which is not until November but SWMBO said that I might as well play with it now. No argument from me!
I started archery last year(very late in life), finishing my beginners course in December. However, I had already purchased all my kit before even starting the beginners course and had gone for a SF forged + with SF Premium limbs (24lbs). By the time the beginers course was over, I had upgraded to 30lb SF Elite fibre foam limbs, had fitted a Beiter clicker and Fivics long rod and short rods.
During my research into what bow to get, I had looked at the Revolution, considering it to be a stunning looking bow but I felt that it was a step too far, hence the Forged +.
The SF bow has been an excelllent choice and is far more capable than I am. I spent the summer shooting solid 1st class scores (except at competitions where I tended to crash and burn) so I finished the season at 2nd class.
On moving back indoors, I reverted to my X7 aluminium arrows so as to get bigger holes in the target. Doing this meant that I had to reset my centre shot and adjust my button and rest and retune for the heavier arrows. This was a bit of a niusance and will have to be reversed next Spring when we go back outdoors.
Then I had a brainwave - my birthday was coming up and my wife is always looking for ideas as to what to get me -sooooo! The decision was made to get a nice new Revolution in red, white and green. The excuse being that I would set up the Revolution for the indoor season and use the Forged + for outdoors.
I wasn't able to try the riser since the nearest dealer who (might) have a left handed riser in stock to try is over 350 miles away so I just took the plunge and ordered one direct from Spigarelli. It has taken 6 weeks for the riser to arrive but, hopefully, it will be worth the wait. While waiting, I ordered a new Shibuya button, made a new red string and refletched my arrows with red white and green fletchings.
So, today, I fitted the new string. I had to add 24 twists to the string to get the bracing height to 220mm from where I will fine tune it. I fitted my new Shibuya button, checked the limb alignment, set the centre shot and adjusted the rest to suit the arrows. The tiller needed slight adjustment as it was set at a slight negative value. After tying in new nocking points, I transferred the sight and stabilisers from my Forged + and went out to shoot.
No fairy story, I'm afraid. My arrows were landing about 6" right at 10 yards so I adjusted the centre shot and the sight pin to get them landing roughly where I was aiming. Unfortunately, I only had time to shoot a couple of dozen arrows today so this story will have to be continued at a later date.

  7. Hiya,
haven't been able to get on here much recently over the last year, and for the same reason, haven't shot much....indeed, got fairly disillusioned with it all, no matter whether shooting the Revolution, Osprey or Longbow.
Today, I decided to do an "Andy Harris" round (36 arrows...local postal league) I probably have not shot more than 12 arrows a time for over a year, and then probably no more than 1x a month...............

With the Revo (now using FULL stabiliser set up...), I shot a PB by a significant margin, and put myself up with some League 1 shooters!! Happy Bunny....now I've got to chase it and keep it up..... bit like this blog...keep it up.

I know it's been said before, but for some of the posters above.....lets see your set ups......tell us about them??????

.....trying to insert photo.....can't remember how to do so, certainly not copy and paste....?

  8. I'll try again, my last obviously didn't come through? Your work here Tony is much appreciated, I just wish more people would post details or their set up...mind you I tried a few days ago, and couldn't work out how to post pictures.....

I haven't posted for a while or indeed shot much more than a dozen arrows at a time for about a year, both before and after my surgery, but last week I decided to do a local indoor league round of 36 arrows.....and wow, a PB by a significant margin, and fairly consistent shooting throughout...good enough to put me in the top league...huzzah! Lets see if I can keep it up throughout the winter season....?

The bow now is fully stabilised, and yes, I have persisted with the clicker.....

    1. Hi Laurence, sorry as soon as I don't check back regularly people start to post comments. If you want you can email me the images and I will post them up. Always nice to get a PB, especially when it is not expected.

  10. One of the added bonuses about the Spiga Revo is that its lines attract attention! I've started doing some indoor competition and with three competition days gone, I got three days of people looking at it, even wanting to hold it. 'Bella' Italian design!
